Copy-Editing

Name of the Event: Copy-Editing For The New Issue
Organizer and Location of Event: IndyKids, 4 West 43rd street
Amount of Hours: 2 Hours
Reflection:

This is the second meeting that we have had for this issue of IndyKids. During this meeting we took all of the articles and collaboratively edited them. We also created a mock up of what the issue is going to look like. I learned that working for a newspaper is really difficult and that it takes a lot of time and effort to get things the way that you want. As a future teacher it makes me think how important it is that students are informed about what is going on in the world. I think that this newspaper is an important tool for teachers to use in the classroom because it is so student friendly. It will keep them interested in the material because it is written in a way that is easy for them to understand. This news paper is related to the themes of the course because it is sent to urban, and low socioeconomic schools in the city. Some of the articles that are put in the paper contain information that students can relate to their everyday lives.
